As part of building the Prospect Database, we are working on regional projects integrating all required disciplines to form the geological framework for further exploration. We started out in the Barents Sea because that is where we expected our new concepts to have the highest impact, and we are now completing studies in the Outer Vøring part of the Norwegian Sea and in the North Sea. See the overview map below showing the progress of our work.

Our main focus of our work is Structural Geology and Petroleum System Analysis - integrated, of course, with the other relevant disciplines of exploration.


Our Regional Work


Below you will find an overview of our completed and ongoing regional studies and other products available, covering vast parts of the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The seismic data and well data are selected through a tidious process to provide the best starting point for integration of proprietary data and updating of the interpretations and maps.

Our work is carefully documented in detail in order to provide thorough understanding of the QA process. Our ambition is that Exploration Teams can trust the work already done, enabling them to build upon the studies to accelerate their work process and reach their targets, faster.

The regional studies can be purchased in full, or tailormade solutions can be fitted to client needs.

The three Comprehensive Study Reports in the Barents Sea are complete and available, and the remaining studies are progressing according to plan and will be completed in the spring 2019. Parts of those are available to clients now.

The level of detail in the work and documentation is slightly different, depending on the client scope of work and the need of collaboration partners. + WESTERN BARENTS SEA INTEGRATED REGIONAL STUDY

The Western Barents Sea integrated regional study based on two 3D and 59 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, is the most comprehensive and up to date study available on the market. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an underexplored and little understood frontier region with only few well data points.

+ CENTRAL BARENTS SEA

The Central Barents Sea integrated regional study that is based on 12 3D and 73 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, is the most comprehensive and up to date study available on the market for this area. The study was initiated to better understand the salt distribution, the structural architecture of Maud Basin, Ottar Basin and the detailed configuration of Loppa High, and to improve the understanding of the possible structural controls of the Steinkobbe Fm source rock distribution. Furthermore, the team wanted to explore the Paleozoic carbonate play and the potential of Carboniferous to Permian source rocks. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an highly attractive part of the Norwegian Barents Sea

+ EASTERN FINNMARK PLATFORM

The Eastern Finnmark Platform integrated regional study that is based on 7 3D and 36 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, has focused on interpretation of the Paleozoic plays. The study was initiated to better understanding Paleozoic source rocks, and the structural controls on the carbonate buildups, using spectral decomposition to visualise carbonate geomorphologies. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an highly attractive part of the Norwegian Barents Sea

NORWEGIAN SEA

 

The basic work for the Norwegian Sea Study has been initiated, with 2D seismic data mistie corrected and Noise Cancelled, petrophysical evaluation of 30 wells completed, wells tied to seismic data and interpretations started. Hence, a complete 2D data package is available for purchase and ready for integration of selected 3D surveys.

The study area is preliminary and flexible to adjust to client needs.

Parts of the ongoing study is complete and available for purchase, described below.


 

NORTH SEA

 

The comprehensive study focusing on Viking Graben and Utsira High (covered 90% by 3D seismic data) was initiated in the spring 2018, regional horizons have been completed for the Estimages Velocity Model for depth conversion, while remaining horizons for the Petroleum System Analysis is being completed.

The fault interpretation for the Top Pre Zechstein/Near Top Basement/Near Top Rotliegendes surface and provide significant improvements in the understanding of the structural controls on reservoir distribution - and the understanding of salt and the impact on structural styles across the region.

Study is ongoing and planned to be available in March 2019.

Regional Depth Maps for Northern North Sea and the southern part of NCS will be available in March 2019, mainly based on 2D interpretation supported by 3D interpretation where relevant.

The maps will be available with a calibrated seismic data base in TWT, and available in depth with the assistance of Estimages Norge during the winter and spring 2019.

PROSPECTS


We are continuously in the process of maturing prospects. In the Barents Sea we offer Ready-to-Drill Prospects within the Paleozoic carbonate play, the classic Jurassic Stø Fm play and Late Cretaceous play. 

To further accelerate exploration, we have joined forces with Well Expertise, who is providing our prospects with conceptual well design and an estimated risked cost for how much it would cost to drill an exploration well to potentially test the prospect next year. By working together, we can provide clients with Ready-to-Drill Prospects where one applies for the license in the APA in August, potentially are awarded the license together with other partners in January the following year - and can test the prospect with an exploration well by the next summer.

As we track relinquished licenses, prospects are continuously added to the Prospect Database, but quality assurance takes time, so we might already have matured prospects that could be of interest that are not completed yet.
