As part of building the Prospect Database, we are working on regional projects integrating all required disciplines to form the geological framework for further exploration. We have started out in the Barents Sea, for strategic reasons, and will now start up regional projects further south on the NCS.

+ WESTERN BARENTS SEA INTEGRATED REGIONAL STUDY

The Western Barents Sea integrated regional study based on two 3D and 59 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, is the most comprehensive and up to date study available on the market. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an underexplored and little understood frontier region with only few well data points.

+ CENTRAL BARENTS SEA

The Central Barents Sea integrated regional study that is based on 12 3D and 73 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, is the most comprehensive and up to date study available on the market for this area. The study was initiated to better understand the salt distribution, the structural architecture of Maud Basin, Ottar Basin and the detailed configuration of Loppa High, and to improve the understanding of the possible structural controls of the Steinkobbe Fm source rock distribution. Furthermore, the team wanted to explore the Paleozoic carbonate play and the potential of Carboniferous to Permian source rocks. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an highly attractive part of the Norwegian Barents Sea

By integrating the work of these experts, the study offers a significantly different structural architecture and basin definition than previously published, and the result is a good understanding and confidence in the distribution of Steinkobbe Fm source rock, where the results of the Petroleum System Analysis correlate with well observations.

+ EASTERN FINNMARK PLATFORM

The Eastern Finnmark Platform integrated regional study that is based on 7 3D and 36 relinquished 2D seismic surveys and well data from DISKOS, has focused on interpretation of the Paleozoic plays. The study was initiated to better understanding Paleozoic source rocks, and the structural controls on the carbonate buildups, using spectral decomposition to visualise carbonate geomorphologies. The project involves some of the best Barents Sea explorers and discipline experts within their field, to deliver an integrated regional study in an highly attractive part of the Norwegian Barents Sea

PROSPECTS

We are continuously in the process of maturing prospects. In the Barents Sea we offer Ready-to-Drill Prospects within the Paleozoic carbonate play, the classic Jurassic Stø Fm play and Late Cretaceous play. 

To further accelerate exploration, we have joined forces with Well Expertise, who is providing our prospects with conceptual well design and an estimated risked cost for how much it would cost to drill an exploration well to potentially test the prospect next year. By working together, we can provide clients with Ready-to-Drill Prospects where one applies for the license in the APA in August, potentially are awarded the license together with other partners in January 2019 - and can test the prospect with an exploration well by next summer.

As we track relinquished licenses, prospects are continuously added to the Prospect Database, but quality assurance takes time, so we might already have matured prospects that could be of interest that are not completed yet. The structural architecture of the deep Paleozoic grabens has had significant control on the petroleum system in the Barents Sea. Structural controls have affected reservoir distribution and source rock deposition during tectonic phases, in addition to trap formation and hydrocarbon migration.

We have for a very long time wanted mapping out the mobile salt structures and layered evaporite sequences, to understand the distribution of these and how the decoupling and coupling affect the deformation and faulting of younger strata. 

The Salt Structure and Evaporite Distribution Map is complete, and we have finalised regional fault polygons on three levels, with a high level of detail. The target is to better understand the distribution of source rock to identify where traps could have been developed and form basis for our regional understanding that defines the framework of our prospect hunting. 

We are offering these regional fault maps for sale, knowing that only few exploration teams have enough time and resources for regional work, and hope that these maps can be helpful in the APA2018 and save you valuable time in your interpretation phase.

One person alone cannot do all disciplines required in exploration, but using each others strengths and flexibility, we can assist Client Teams with the relevant skill at the right time.

We work closely with the Client Team to integrate knowledge and transfer relevant competence, and make sure that targets are met by using shared project planning tools. We work efficiently, while delivering quality: in one year, we have worked in large teams of 16, 8 and 17 people to deliver four regional studies to clients. On deadline.
