The road to success

There are many different ways to define success, and traditionally one would look at share price, revenue or yearly results. We are in a business that is heavily impacted by the oil price, so this measure is not always meaningful.

You could also measure your success based on client satisfaction or if the team thrive, and experience personal growth. Or how your company positively impacts the society around us.

Our fuel is when the clients are outright impressed by our scientific work. It gives us a kick when they are blown away by the results and in depth understands the details of how we get there by integrating knowledge across many different disciplines. Over the years we have a consistent pattern of these experiences and good memories to bring with us into the future, except for with one company where we suspect that it is about something entirely different, and that means a lot to us. Because it is about pride. Scientific pride and delivering above and beyond expectations as a team.

Recently, we asked clients if they could help us with testimonials to publish on our website, and we knew that they were satisfied with us and our work - but honestly, it was now our turn to be blown away. Read more here

We are currently working in a big virtual team for a client, with more than 17 people from seven different nationalities based in seven different cities in four countries. With this project team we cover most of the disciplines needed within exploration. And it is a deep satisfactory feeling to see the heavy machine running smooth with the network based organisation working together as one organism. Many of the people working together have never worked together before, and half of the project team has never met in real life. But it works.

So how is it that we have managed to create a network based and virtual organisation, consisting of highly specialised scientists that continuously and consistently deliver high quality?

It does not happen by coincidence.

It is about creating a value-driven company and a high performance team. It is about a long series of conscious choices and a bit of grit. And it is about testing what works and what does not.

Right from the beginning, we wanted to turn everything upside down and test what would lead us to a high level of quality, efficiency and satisfaction. We wanted to test if we could make it a good and sustainable business.

We plan to share how we made it work in a series of blog posts over the coming weeks and months, in the hope that it could inspire action elsewhere.
