DUG Insight experiences – Håvard’s version

Håvard Solheim recently joined ExploCrowd after completing a M.Sc in geophysics at the University of Oslo. Here, he got his first experience with what he now calls “my new favorite seismic interpretation tool”, DUG Insight.

Here are some of his experiences, in his own words:

–  I have never used this software in the past, and was surprised how quickly I got up to speed with the tools and processes I needed for my work. Previously I have experience with Petrel (commercial) and OpendTect (open source).

– I like that the interface is not “in your face” all the time, as you have the different view-windows separated from the main frame (which you can pop up by striking the space bar if you want).

– The software feels intuitive, with the operations and workflows not hiding behind several fancy buttons and deep into dropdown menus of dropdown menus. If there is one thing, as a beginner, I would like to highlight, it would be the “Propagator Guided” option for tracing horizons. I have never experienced such swift and fluid seismic interpretation.
