It’s Fault Seal Analysis month!

Håvard Solheim is a Geoscientist in ExploCrowd.

Dark winter months? Luckily, it is always possible to brighten your day with new knowledge.

This winter, we have decided to invest in building our competence and capabilities by learning new software. And it’s not just any software; the MOVE Fault Analysis module will add important expertise to our team – which again will come in handy to our clients.

Why MOVE?

We got acquainted with a similar software during a regional project in 2021, and immediately got interested in its potential but limitations of the software led us to exploring for new options.

One beautiful fault! This one is from Utah, USA.

MOVE quickly became the logical option, as it allowed for a detailed real analysis in 3D based on the fault plane itself and interpreted horizons. MOVE enables 3D quantitative analysis of fault throw, juxtaposition and seal combined with excellent visualisation options.

Evaluation of fault sealing capacity is necessary to make informed decisions in oil and gas prospects, as to new CO2 business models, ensuring with high confidence that the injected CO2 cannot leak out of the trap.

Why NOW?

In ExploCrowd, we always aim to build new competence. However, for large parts of the year, there aren’t enough hours in the day to sink as far into new knowledge as we want to. Therefore, to develop further, we use what we expect to be low activity months, to develop further.

With MOVE, we are only just getting started, but the aim is to build extensive knowledge to learn all about its opportunities associated with it.
