REGIONAL INTEGRATED STUDIES

As part of building our geological understanding of the Norwegian continental shelf, to form basis for exclusive studies, advisory, consultancy and underpinning our Prospect & Lead Inventory, we are working on regional projects integrating all required disciplines to form the geological framework for further exploration.

Why

What we have seen through our careers is that many regional studies are carried out under time constraints, where there often isn’t enough time to carefully QC and build the databases. Regretfully, it often results in low confidence in the work completed and eventually turns out that it all has to be done again, because it wasn’t done right from the beginning.

Therefore, we decided that we wanted to build our regional studies carefully, and once and for all.

Through the rigorous studies integrating all relevant disciplines we also got the opportunity to build regional competence and develop new concepts, because we took our time to see data in new light. These new concepts have created significant value for clients, and they have the potential to significantly increase the chance of discoveries on NCS.

HOW

We invest significant amount of manpower and time on building mistie corrected, amplitude calibrated and noise cancelled comprehensive seismic databases to form the framework for later integration of new data. Our Well Data are carefully selected based on a number of parameters, including data availability and quality.

Below, you find an overview of the rigorous workflow we follow in our regional work.

We use biostratigraphy calibrated with seismic data to achieve the highest confidence possible - and there are no outliers. This rigorous approach results in high-quality maps on a regional scale, without line effects, ready for extracting seismic attributes on a regional scale. With high confidence.

PaleoScan software is used extensively for seismic attribute extract, enabling us to uncover geomorphologies and anomalies in the full seismic volume, extremely efficient.

Our main focus of our work is Structural Geology and Petroleum System Analysis to understand hydrocarbon migration - integrated, of course, with the other relevant disciplines of exploration. And the investment has paid off and given us results that are meaningful and consistent with the regional context, forming basis for developing new insights, new play models and understanding the tested and untested prospectivity of the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Fully understanding the Tectonostratigraphic Development of an area on a regional scale is a time consuming and highly demanding challenge, why few Exploration Teams have the opportunity to allocate time for this overview. We have done the footwork, and it is possible to acquire tailormade Regional Chapters for Licence Applications upon request.

Our regional integrated studies enable speed and new opportunities, and several of our clients have used selected areas of our studies for their continued APA work.

WHAT

As part of our strategy of demonstrating that we could make a difference with our regional insights and new concepts, we started out in the Barents Sea because that is where we expected our new concepts to have the highest impact.

We moved on to cover the entire North Sea region, starting from the Utsira High and southern Viking Graben and extending north and all the way south to implement detailed seismic interpretation of the Central Graben with focus on structural architecture and salt tectonics.

Elements from all of our studies can be made into tailormade solutions that can assist you in accelerating exploration or help you in your Asset Evaluations.

Based on our regional interpretations and detailed studies we provide flexible access to Multi-Client Studies, where you can buy relevant data for areas you find interesting. A selection of products are described below.

Integration with regional scale seismic attributes from paleoscan models

In our effort to efficiently integrate seismic attributes in the exploration workflow, standalone PaleoScan Models were completed for the South Viking Graben - Utsira High and Central Graben. The PaleoScan models enables efficient spectral decomposition analysis and seismic attribute extraction from stratigraphically controlled stacked horizons at every peak, trough, zero- and S-crossing. Both models are available through our Webshop.

In the regional scale PaleoScan Model South Viking Graben - Utsira High a large number of horizons and observed geomorphologies are tied to well observations and sedimentology organised in our IC Well Database. This has provided an overview of the reservoir distribution in Paleogene and Neogene on a regional scale, associated with very good confidence.

Regional TWT and TVD Maps

Regional Time maps for the entire North Sea Region and Barents Sea are available for purchase in a 500 by 500 meter grid size. The maps have been mapped on a calibrated seismic data base, and are available in TWT and TVD with the assistance of Estimages Norge. The maps are available for purchase here.

Regional Fault Maps and Salt Structure Maps

Structural geology is our core competence and this has high priority in our studies, for us to understand the impact of the structural controls on sediment deposition, trap formation and hydrocarbon migration.

Regional fault maps and salt structure maps for the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea are available for purchase in the ExploCrowd Webshop and can be delivered within 1 day and integrated efficiently in most softwares.

These products have turned out to be especially valuable to our clients.

GEOPRESSURE ANALYSIS AND OVERPRESSURE COMPARTMENT MAPS

Understanding overpressure distribution can be of utmost importance in several regions, for understanding potential false positive AVO responses, preservation of porosity and especially when planning wells. Industry leading experts Stephen O’Connor and Guy Markham have reviewed geopressure data and interpreted overpressures. Those have in several areas been integrated with the ExploCrowd Fault maps - providing valuable new insights.

is an overview of all the products available?

Of course. And easily accessible for everyone to study in detail.

You can get an overview of all the products we have available on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, enabling potential clients to explore which acreage of interest or possible existing licences are covered by our various studies. Perhaps you need a Geopressure interpretation for a specific well and want to know if we have it available?
